Furesø Museer (Furesø Museums)
consists of four historical buildings:
Ellegården, Cornelen and Mosegaarden.
Together they cover the local history of
Furesø Kommune from prehistoric times up until to-day.
Opening hours: Tuesday-Friday 11am-4pm
Sunday 1pm-4pm. (Closed on Sundays in July)

Ellegården

The exhibitions at Ellegården cover
the history of Furesø Kommune from prehistoric times up to
the 1950’es. Here you can meet the chairman of the parish
council, the chemist, the shoemaker and Stine the
bonnet-maker or get an impression of life on the country
estate Farumgaard during the Golden Age (as the first half
of the 19th century has been called in Denmark).

Købmandsmuseet Cornelen

In the old grocery store Cornelen
new life has been breathed into the home and the store,
which has been re-constructed as a typical village grocery
from the 1930’ties – a piece of living local history. Enjoy
a fizzy drink and an old fashioned gobstopper or a piece of
rock candy sitting on the bench outside overlooking the old
village pond. Buy also a bit of the past in the form of a
hopscotch stone, a cut-out doll or a similar item.

Exhibited here is the history of
Værløse from the time of the stone age hunters up until
to-day. The museum propagates the fine archaeological
findings of the area, the rural community and the history
of Værløse as a modern suburb – how people have lived in
this wooded
community not far from of Copenhagen. Mosegaarden
also contains special exhibitions of costumes, textiles and
embroidery as well as a smithy, a schoolroom and a farm
workers cottage and a printing office – Museet om Kajs
Avis – which can be used for demonstrations.
